Walls are lined with memorabilia and old photos from the area. Ease into a 1940s-style chair at a table with a sugar bowl covered by a retro crocheted doily.

Indulge in a sweet scone, or opt for an all-day Butcher’s Breakfast complete with local bacon and black pudding. If you peer into the open kitchen, you’ll see your meal being prepared from scratch.

Would you like to try your hand at making some of Helen’s creations at home (yes, there’s a real Helen)? She sells ingredients like mixed nuts, dried fruit and flour in the exact amounts needed to bake in singular sessions.

Helen’s Bake House and Tearoom can be found in the centre of Burton-Upon-Trent, on the Market Place, just a ten minute drive from the hotel.
